31 Jan 2009 War Council Idealist Requirements

War Council

The Warrior is marked by three characteristics: conviction, service, and teamwork. Live long enough on the battlefield and you'll face overwhelming odds and despair that will suck the life out of you. The Idealist has learned that even against insurmountable odds, one warrior, one sword, can make the difference and turn the tide. Though fear may clutch his heart, the warrior drives on.

Old age is seldom the reward for taking the warrior's path. The ideals of glory fade quickly when the horror of battle visits the field. No warrior lasts long unless he or she is serving something greater than themselves. Be it an ideal, an organization, or merely the comrade next to them, all warriors soon realize their lives are based on service.

Finally, no lone warrior survives combat for long. We all understand that in aiding each other, we are stronger than the sum of our capabilities. Magic causes more damage than the sword, yet the mage needs the protection of the armored warrior. Each individual brings a capability matched by none other and only together, do we realize our full strength.

The Idealist candidate will be measured in these three values with specific trials. To demonstrate these three values, the Idealist candidate must attend 4 events of choice from the list below, but they all have to be different. If the candidate leads an event, that will count as attending 2.

  • Battlegrounds: This is our bread and butter, where we make our mark, where we hold the Horde at bay. To qualify for this event, you must attend a complete battle and not desert, you must fight with at least one member from OOT, and you must report your experiences.
  • Gear Run: We live or die by the state of our eqiupment. Journey to an instance or gather, through your travels, 5 items of green or higher quality which are slated for levels in the upper end of the BG brackets. Send these items to the vault or to a specific character named on one of the War Council teams. Leadership credit is given if you lead two other OOT members through an instance as your gear run.
  • Training Class: On tactics, individual or group. This could cover movement, weapons, equipment, spells, specific moves from specific classes, or other battle related education. There must be two others in attendance for this event to qualify. The class must be in person and held in game chat, preferably "say" chat mode, in order to support roleplaying.
  • World Raid: We be smackin' a Horde town! Or, spend 1 hour running Horde out of occupied towers in Eastern Plaguelands, The Outlands, etc. This must be an OOT calendared raid with at least 4 other participants.
  • Arena Battle: Simply put, enter the arena to win fame and glory. This must be on an OOT arena team. .
  • Dueling Event: Dueling, either as an instructional event or for bragging rights. This must be an OOT calendared event.

It is highly encouraged to continue activity as an Idealist. Hopefully your schedule supports attending at least one event per month. As has become a theme in the Order, you only lose if you don't show.

At this time, OOT has not started Monster Play in LOTRO.

Growth and Nourishment Idealist Requirements

Growth and Nourishment

Growth and Nourishment is the sustenance of the Order. It provides a huge part of the foundation this guild stands on: Our mission is to be there for everyone, regardless of level, ability, rank, or playstyle. G&N plays an essential role towards that, as well as towards the success of all the other Councils. Everyone must start somewhere in his/her journey, and Order of Twilight strives to be there for them every step of the way.

There are also those who have already tasted the glories that await, but who crave the variety and flexibility of having multiple characters. This is also where Growth and Nourishment steps in.

And finally, in order to enjoy a wide variety of activities without our members being spread too thin, the guild must continually grow.

To become an Idealist within the Growth and Nourishment Council, the following tasks must be completed:
  • Instance Runs: Attend 3 or lead 1 instance run(s) or leveling event(s) that fall under the G&N instance/level range list (Sunken Temple/appx. Level 55, and below).  For LOTRO, all instances OOT currently runs in fall under G&N.  If 1 extra "Guild Service" is done, then only 2 "Instance Runs" attended (or 1 led) are required.
  • Guild Service: Do at least 2 "farming/gathering" type runs, or "service" type events. The goal is to benefit the guild, either gathering valuable items/funds for the vault, or an event that offers free services to guild members directly. You may also donate valuable items to the guild vault, either for use in recruiting, crafting, or to give away to other members. If making donations, just ask any G&N Visionary or Pathfinder how much it counts. (A stack of linen cloth doesn't count for as much coming from a level 42 as it would from a level 10).
  • Mentoring: Mentor at least 2 Wishmakers. (If you recruit someone into the guild, then you only need to Mentor 1 Wishmaker.) Mentoring is working closely with a new member as a guide to help make them feel more comfortable with the guild or the game.
  • Mentoring: Recruit a new member and work with them through the application process. Continue to work with the new member up until they qualify for promotion to Dreamer, and then act as their sponsor, or if you're unable, help them secure a sponsor. (If you've completed the 2 "Mentoring" sessions, you may skip this.)

So play, have fun, do what you love to do! Just keep track of when, and with who. Then once you've done a handful of events, and fulfilled the other requirements, fill out the application in the proposed format. Thanks for making this the friendliest, most inclusive raiding/PVP/RP guild anywhere!

Fellowship and Lore Idealist Requirements

Fellowship and Lore

The path one must walk within the Order of Twilight is a difficult one. Twilight is the time before and after; we walk the edge between good and evil, shadow and light. We freely give of ourselves in the service of the DreamLord, yet we just as willingly satiate our own cravings from within. It matters not what motivates you as long as your desire lies with the Order.

If you chose to align yourself with this council, you must be willing to accept a great responsibility. To that end, willingness alone is not enough to grant you position within our halls. You must prove your worth.

You will be given a series of trials that will test your commitment. Some of the trials will be rather simple and straight forward. Their completion will present the Council with a better picture of who you are and the roads you have traveled.

  • Trial of Character: The first trial is by far the simplest. You are to go here and scribe the parchment in the appropriate manner. You will then send a Fellowship and Lore Council Leader a letter informing him/her of the successful completion of this most simple of Trials.
  • Trial of the Soul: This second trial will give us insight into your dedication and ability to interact in a group setting. To this end, you will schedule and lead 2 social events. These can be Meet & Greets, Azeroth or Middle Earth History Lessons or in-character instance runs. These events must be conducted in-character. The type and style is subject to your whims.
  • Trial of Insight: Another trial for ink and parchment. You are to go here and ink a tale of your past. Nothing exercises the mind like a fine tale. You will then send a Fellowship and Lore Council Leader a letter informing him/her of the successful completion of this second Trial.

Once you achieve the rank of Idealist within the Fellowship and Lore Council, we recommend that each month you host one in-character event such as that described in the Trial of the Soul OR a character history or story similar to that from the Trial of Insight.

Advanced Encounters Idealist Requirements

Advanced Encounters

The name says it all: only the most powerful need apply. This is where the serious dungeon crawlers will find themselves most often. In order to forge your new identity as Idealist through Advanced Encounters, one must be prepared to face any dangers that lie within the most challenging dungeons. Out of necessity, this requires a minimum level of 65 simply to attempt!

So.. you want to call yourself a hero of Azeroth, eh? A Dragon Slayer? A conquerer of the Gods and Demons? The Bane of the Scourge? You want to fashion a name for yourself that will out last the stones of the mighty city of Stormwind itself? Then my friends, the Advanced Encounters Council shall help you. But you must prove to us, that beyond a shadow of a doubt, you have the ability to earn such recognition and not simply get yourself, and your brethren, killed in the process. To prove yourself, we set a simple score card for you... a tally of your accomplishments. The goal is easy enough... achieve 40 marks of heroism by braving the dangers of the world with the Order of Twilight.

Complete the following tasks in any combination until you've earned the required 40 marks:
  • 2 marks per hour attending an instance or raid (if PuG, must have 1 other OoT member present). Thus, 20 hours of just going to runs and you've got it.
  • 4 marks per hour LEADING an instance (same PuG rule applies). Thus, 10 hours of leading instance runs.
  • 10 marks per hour leading a RAID (10+ members). Thus, one 10+ raid led for 4 hours and you've got it.

Any event that's on the calendar ahead of time is worth double marks!

At this time, OOT is not running raid instances in LOTRO.
